2020 Interior Design Career Day
Career Day 2020, themed “What’s Your Vision?”, certainly showed students that on Friday, February 28th at Madison College in Madison.
Participation hovered near 175 people, including students, faculty members, design professionals, industry vendors, esteemed speakers and dedicated volunteers. IIDA WI President and ASID WI Chapter Presidents spoke on the importance of belonging to a professional organization and what it means to them.
For many, keynote speaker Izzy Lugo was the highlight of the day; delivering an empowering message on how to develop personal brand. Izzy went into detail about how he branded himself by telling his story through shoes. He also provided 3 breakouts that involved the students to develop their story with thought provoking questions.
Other valuable sessions included “IIDA and ASID Award Winners”, a session where both commercial and residential designers gave real life examples of an award-winning project. IIDA-WI’s own Erica Frederiksen spoke about her Best of Competition project Milwaukee Public Library – Mitchell Street Branch. The vendor fair, commercial and residential panels, and free professional headshots made for a well-rounded day. Career Day is a not to miss event for interior design students looking to enhance skills, knowledge and building their network.
