EVENT RECAP: [Madison] WI Interior Design Career Day 2019

Participation hovered near 160 people, including faculty members, design professionals, industry vendors, esteemed speakers and dedicated volunteers. IIDA WI Past President and ASID WI Chapter Presidents spoke on the importance of belonging to a professional organization.

For many, keynote speaker Lynn Vogeltanz was the highlight of the day; delivering an empowering message to follow your path because you never know what it may bring. Lynn spoke to her own experiences, the multiple drafts of her life-long blueprint, and the dozens of successes and learning experiences she gained along the way. Student’s learned from her the importance of exploring new ideas, building relationships and much more. They even had mini-breaks to create their own path.

Other valuable sessions included “IIDA and ASID Award Winners”, a session where both commercial and residential designers gave real life examples of an award winning project. “Beyond the Network”, taught by Amy Wood, walked students through memory tricks to get more value out of networking, along with providing tips and tricks for LinkedIN and interviewing. The vendor fair, commercial and residential panels, and free professional headshots made for a well-rounded day. Career Day is a “not to miss event for interior design students looking to enhance skills, knowledge and building their network.
