Challenge:

KTBJ is a large healthcare system looking to proactively improve patient health through education and community outreach.  Their design challenge is to improve and enhance their regional and community hospitals so the facilities support the engagement of the public, enabling them to improve their overall wellness by taking a proactive approach to improving their health.  In addition, to this initiative, KTBJ maintains its commitment to continually adapt and improve their delivery of healthcare across all locations and is specifically looking to infuse Telemedicine practices throughout their facilities.  This assignment will include branding and messaging supporting these initiatives.

KTBJ is accepting proposals from design firms on concepts for the facility design that will support their initiatives outlined.  Spaces and special consideration to be included in the proposals are:

  • Wellness and Educational Center including:
    1. Studios to support physical health for activities like yoga
    2. A kitchen to support healthy eating classes
    3. Meditation spaces to support mental health for activities like meditation
    4. Classroom space for classroom training and traditional education
  • Clinic and Rehab space to include:
    1. Exam room for Dr. Visits
    2. Telehealth applications in Exam rooms and other consult spaces
  • Wayfinding - Infusing the new brand and clearly identifying the movement within the facility
  • HIPPA requirements in patient check-in/out, registration and exam spaces

Please provide a written executive summary of your design ideas for KTBJ’s Community and Regional hospital’s mission.  Also include a short introduction of your design firm (use a fictitious name – student names should not appear in the text of the submission).
